Our mission for Northwest Indiana veterans
At Northwest Indiana Veterans Housing Alliance Inc., we envision a community where no veteran is left without a home. Guided by dignity and respect, we work tirelessly to ensure those who served our nation have access to safe, affordable housing and the vital resources needed to rebuild their lives.

Dedicated to dignity and stability
Founded in Merrillville, Indiana, our 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization was built on the core belief that honoring military sacrifice means providing lasting stability. Under the leadership of President and CEO Eric A. Blackmon Sr., we are actively working to establish a 5–10-bed transitional housing facility, acquire residential property, and create supportive pathways from homelessness to permanent independent living across Lake and Porter counties.

Values that guide our service
Our daily work is anchored in six foundational values: honor for every sacrifice, dignity in every interaction, housing stability for long-term security, empowerment that fosters self-sufficiency, accountability in stewardship, and community partnerships that strengthen local care networks. Every program we develop is designed to uplift the whole person, not just provide a roof.

Building a stronger community together
Ending veteran homelessness requires sustained community action and strategic collaboration. Located at 109 West 86th Avenue in Merrillville, our alliance coordinates with local stakeholders, community leaders, and service providers to acquire land, develop permanent supportive housing, and ensure veterans at risk of displacement receive immediate, coordinated assistance.
"Here at Northwest Indiana Veterans Housing Alliance INC" where no veteran is left without a home, and those who served our country have access to safe, affordable housing and the resources necessary to build a better future."
